These Lazy Days of Summer

I love the slow, lazy days of summer. When it cools off in the evening and you can just sit out on your porch and relax and take it all in.

You have the retarded flowerpots swinging gently back and forth in the summer breeze.

You have disadvantaged cups of yogurt offering to mow your lawn for only a few spoonfuls of a delicious fruit filling. Do they do a good job on your lawn? No, of course not, they’re just cups of yogurt. But it makes you feel good to give them the fruit, so you do.

There are flocks of peacocks soaring gracefully through the evening skies. It’s one of those things that just screams out “IT’S SUMMERTIME!” at the top of its lungs.

There are the traveling speakers trying to get you to attend their latest artichoke seminar, How to Become Rich by Eating Artichokes. You sometimes feel bad for them and give them some of the moldy fruit that you didn’t give to the yogurt. It makes them feel better, even if it does give them mild cases of food poisoning. Like the gum wrapper always says, whatever form of food poisoning doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, except for your kidneys which may suffer permanent damage.

Yes, summer is a great time of the year. What are your favorite things about it? Let me know in the comments, and I might send you some perfectly healthy fruit in return. (No guarantee of fruit delivery is intended.)
